Our Commitment to Content Freshness
We believe that great content requires ongoing maintenance. This policy outlines how we review and update content to ensure it remains accurate, helpful, and current.
Review Schedule
We review content on the following schedule:
- Quarterly Reviews: All published content is reviewed at least once per quarter for accuracy and relevance
- Annual Deep Reviews: Comprehensive reviews of all content annually, including fact-checking and link verification
- Triggered Reviews: Content is reviewed
immediately when:
- Industry best practices change
- Tools or services we mention are updated
- Readers report errors or outdated information
- New research or data becomes available
What We Review
During each review, we check:
- Accuracy: Are all facts, statistics, and claims still accurate?
- Relevance: Is the content still relevant to current best practices?
- Links: Do all external links work? Are they still pointing to relevant resources?
- Tools & Services: Are any tools or services mentioned still available and current?
- Examples: Are examples and case studies still representative?
Update Types
We make different types of updates:
- Minor Updates: Fixing typos, broken links, or small factual corrections (no date change)
- Content Updates: Adding new sections, updating examples, or revising recommendations (update date modified)
- Major Revisions: Significant rewrites or restructuring (update date modified and add review note)
- Review Dates: When content is checked for accuracy but no changes are needed (update reviewed date)
Date Tracking
We track three types of dates for transparency:
- Publication Date: When content was first published (never changes unless content is republished)
- Modified Date: When content was substantively changed (updated only when meaningful changes are made)
- Reviewed Date: When content was last checked for accuracy (updated during quarterly reviews, even if no changes are made)
Content Retirement
Occasionally, content becomes outdated beyond repair. In these cases, we may:
- Archive the content with a note explaining why it's no longer current
- Redirect to updated or replacement content when available
- Remove content that is no longer accurate or helpful
